Back to School Tips

BACK TO SCHOOL: TIPS FOR HAVING THE LATEST ESSENTIALS FOR YOUR KIDS

School is fast approaching and that means your kids are going to want and need new clothes. How do you know what to purchase that will please them, as well as your wallet? Here are a few handy guidelines to remember as you buy new kids clothing.

Layer for comfort, layer for style. Most areas of the United States are relatively still warm when school begins. However, the mornings may be slightly chilly when the kids are waiting at the bus stop. Your son or daughter can take advantage of the weather by layering their clothing. Make sure they have comfortable layers. Cotton tee shirts are breathable, versatile and come in a lot of different colors and styles. They also come in a variety of lengths, including short sleeve, three-quarter length and long sleeve. Pair it with lightweight capris or shorts and a nylon vest for a cool look that is functional and stylish.

Step it up! Shoes are always important to kids as they go back to school. Boys always want the latest sneakers for gym class and playing ball after school and girls seek out the latest ballet flats and sporty sneakers. Please them both when you purchase shoes with sturdy rubber soles and cushy heel support. Many shoe websites offer back-to-school savings and even free shipping. Take advantage of these deals as you stock up for the school year.

Accessorize and prioritize. Sturdy backpacks are not only key to your child’s fashion sense but also for their safety. Ensure the backpack is sewn well and has padding and handles they can easily hold without a struggle. And with a vast amount of styles, shapes and colors, you are bound to find a bag perfect for your kids. Focusing on function and style will give your child the best of both worlds as the bag will be ergonomically sound and look fantastic, too!
By starting now and purchasing these school essentials you’ll not only get your child prepared with ease, but you’ll also be able to focus on finding the best deals around. Good luck!

Great Baby Shower Gift Ideas

It can be hard to know what to give an expecting mom at her baby shower, particularly if there will be a lot of people there. Toys are fairly impractical for a newborn and many other items like strollers or baby slings will be provided by someone else, or the expectant mother may have already purchased her own.

Baby clothes are an excellent way to go when you aren`t sure what to give at a baby shower. Babies go through so many outfits and you really can never have too many cute onesies. Plus, if you opt for baby discount clothes, you don`t have to spend a fortune on a baby shower gift and you can get even more for the baby-to-be. But you don`t want to be ordinary, so here are a few ideas on how to give baby clothes in a unique manner.

Baby Clothes Gift Basket

Looking for a fun and unique idea? Get a baby tub and pack it full of items for the baby. Discount clothing, onesies, a couple of soft towels and some bath sponges are perfect. The new mom will have a tub for those first baths and plenty of baby clothes for dressing her little one in afterwards. Package everything attractively (wrap each item individually or simply roll the baby clothes into neat bundles) and use baby themed cellophane to cover.

Onesie Cake

You`ve heard of diaper cakes . . . why not make one out of cute little onesies? It takes a bit of dexterity, but you can make a mini cake out of onesies and decorate with a couple of rattles, pacifiers or other baby items. If you don`t want to go to all that trouble, get a premade diaper cake and just twirl onesies into baby flowers to decorate it.

Unique Onesies

Buy a handful of plain onesies from a baby discount clothing store and decorate them yourself. Use fabric paint (make sure it`s non-toxic), felt cutouts or iron on transfers to create onesies that reflect the character of the parents. If the baby`s father is a golf fanatic, for example, you might do a green onesie with a golf ball on it and the words “Daddy`s Little Putter”. Use your imagination and come up with some fun designs. These are bound to be a hit at any baby shower.

Gift Sets

Rather than purchase simple, pre-made baby shower gift sets, make your own. Include a cute outfit or two from a baby discount clothing store, hand-embroidered or knit booties, a little hat and perhaps a tiny bracelet. What you add to the gift set should reflect the parents` personality and this will make it far more special than any pre-packaged gift.

Baby showers can be a lot of fun if you aren`t stressed out about the gift. Onesies and baby clothing in general is an ideal gift and one you can never get enough of as a new mom! Use the tips above to turn your ordinary baby clothing into something special and meaningful.

Save Gas Shop Online

GAS PRICES GETTING YOU DOWN? SHOP ONLINE FOR YOUR KIDS CLOTHES AND SAVE!

Summer is upon us and that means the children are out of school. Your kids could use a few more pairs of shorts or cool tanks, but there's one slight catch. To get to the shopping center, you'll have to drive. With gas prices so high and no end in sight of relief at the pump, going to the mall isn't the best option. But what if you could get the same girls clothing or boys clothes for less money and receive free shipping at the same time?

Online shopping is a great alternative to shopping in traditional stores. Why? Because you can do it any time of day or night and don't have to worry about the hassles of traffic and having your gas tank depleted. Below are a few examples of the benefits of shopping online.

Point, click and ship! When you're searching for that perfect pair of blue jeans for your son, sometimes it's hard for him to remain still when you're at the store. He might become distracted and fidgety and you end your search before you find what you're looking for. With online shopping, all you have to do is search for the type of clothing you need, find the size and purchase it. Usually within a few days, your package is delivered right to your front door. Your son is happy he didn't have to trudge to the mall and you're thrilled because you didn't even have to leave your house!

Selection, selection, selection. A lot of times when you're at the store, you see something perfect for your child, but then get disappointed when their size is sold out. You ask the salesperson if they have any more in the back or if they're going to get any more in, but they can't tell you for certain. Online stores have a much larger inventory of products. You'll never be disappointed when you see the exact capris for your daughter you've been searching for and know for certain if her size is available.

Shop more, save more! There are a lot of online retailers that offer incentives to purchase from their stores. Many offer huge discounts on name brands, such as First Impressions. When you add free shipping to the mix, it affords you to purchase an additional dress for your little girl or that Disney shirt your son can't live without. You won't feel guilty using any gas to drive to the store because you'll remain comfortably in your own home. Money back guarantees are almost always available to give you additional security for purchasing items online.

Take a look online and see what possibilities are out there. You'll be amazed how fun it can be to shop from home, in your pajamas if you'd like, and save money at the same time. Happy shopping!

Kids Clothing Safety

There are some things you need to watch out for when buying, or using kids clothing.

Baby clothes up to size 14 months should be either flame resistant material, or snug fitting, so if you are buying sleepwear too big for your baby thinking your baby will grow into it, be sure the garment is flame resistant. Snug fitting clothing reduces the amount of oxygen trapped between the garment and the baby, which makes it harder for fire to spread and the opposite is true for loose fitting clothing. Also think about a sleep sack of some kind instead of loose blankets for the same reason.

When your baby gets old enough to start playing around play equipment be sure to remove any strings or chords that hang loose. Chords and strings around the neck should be removed altogether and drawstrings at the waist level should be no more than 3" long. Better yet buy clothing that uses velcro, buttons, elastic, or snaps around the neck instead of chords. Remove any knots at the end of drawstrings that might get caught in play equipment. Also look out for things like mittens that are attached to clothing that might get caught. Belts, ties and sashes should be stiched to the garmet, not left loose.

Watch for buttons on clothing that a child might get loose and put in their mouth.

Avoid outer clothing that is made with vinyl , PVC, or treated with Gore-Tex and other teflon treatments. Also avoid bibs with plastic coatings that are not labeled as vinyl-free or PVC-free. Avoid diaper covers that are made of vinyl, or PVC.

During the summer buy cloths that are light and cover well to avoid sunburn. Remember, light colored clothes will deflect sunlight. Dark clothes will absorb sunlight. If your child is going to be in an area that might have such things as ticks you should consider light colored clothing, so that it will be easy to see and remove such critters.

Are your kids wearing bright colored, or reflective clothing when riding their bikes and while we are on this subject, have you looked lately to see if your child is wearing their helmet? Helmets should have the CPSC sticker inside. Helmets can get caught on playground equipment, so be sure your child is wearing their helmet only when riding their bike.

Please think about the tips given above. They might save your child from injury, or worse.

Tips for Purchasing Quality Children's Clothing

Be a Savvy Shopper! Simple Tips for Purchasing Quality Children’s Clothing

Shopping is always fun because you never know what treasure you’re going to find. If you’re searching for baby clothes, girl’s clothing or boy’s clothes, the choices are endless. How do you know, though, if those jeans are going to last the whole winter or if they’ll only be worn a few times before the hem begins to shred? Below are a few important tips to keep in mind when shopping for quality children’s clothing. The cost difference might be a little higher than what you’re used to paying, but the quality will definitely outshine the price. You’ll find it’s a small price to pay for clothes that will last longer and will look great well into next season.

Durability is key! Check the seams on the garment to ensure they are held together by sturdy thread and are stitched tightly. When buying a pair of shorts, chances are your little one will be in them a lot during the hot summer months. You want to make sure the shorts will last after several times of your child playing in them. The zipper should be sewed tightly and move with ease up and down with little effort. The pockets should also be stitched tightly, allowing for your child to carry their new toy in it without the seams coming undone.

Attention to detail. Quality clothing has a tremendous amount of detail, whether or not it’s intricate beadwork or subtle sequins or buttons. The detail and time it takes for the garment to be made is longer and makes the overall quality better and more desirable. Pay attention to the pair of capris you are comparing to buy for your little girl. They might look similar, but the one pocket is plain while the other has fun beading in the shape of a flower. The belt might also look the same, but upon further inspection the quality item has a soft pink ribbon while the lesser quality item has a hard, plastic belt. Details may seem small, but they make a huge difference, especially in quality clothing.

Easy care is easy! Always check the garment care label before you purchase the item. If your little boy gets ice cream all over the front of his new shirt, can you put it in the washing machine right away or does it have to be dry cleaned or hand washed? Quality clothing should have low maintenance when it comes to cleaning them. By reading the labels and washing the items correctly as the manufacturer recommends, you will extend the life of your garment and keep your investment a good one.

Soft fabrics are good fabrics. Would you prefer to have your infant wearing soft, smooth fabrics or harsh, rough fabrics against their skin? Smooth fabrics such as cotton feel great against the skin and last a long time with the proper care. Lower quality fabrics, such as polyester, might be slightly cheaper to purchase, but the comfort and longevity of the item will suffer because your child won’t be comfortable and you’ll wind up purchasing more items to make them feel and look better.

If you follow these guidelines, then purchasing that next birthday gift for your child will be a cinch.
